一家三口的生活因父亲伟明被诊断出末期肝癌而改变。表面上平静的家庭被阴霾笼罩。妈妈慕伶扛起家，却得不到父子的体谅。她甚至嫉妒生病的丈夫跟儿子变得亲近。虽然慕伶极力隐瞒，可伟明渐渐意识到自己生命垂危。儿子一鸣收到美国的大学录取通知书，但不敢告诉爸妈。他知道母亲不易，却不愿表现过多关心。一鸣翻过学校围墙，却越不过泥泞的青春迷惘。伟明意识到自己已成负担。困惑的一家人回海岛扫墓，原来的山坟早已不在。台风过后，伟明在迷雾中发现了无人村，废弃的村落竟还住着伟明的母亲和哥哥。多年不和的兄弟来到山坡上的孤树前，哥哥告诉伟明爸妈就葬在这树下后，便消失不见。迷雾消散，伟明暗自做出一个改变家庭命运的选择。
Everything changes for the ING family when husband and father Weiming is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Mother Muling, who is the family’s sole breadwinner, feels isolated, while son Yiming is uncertain about his future plans although he has been accepted to study abroad. The conflicted family returns to Weiming’s hometown for the tomb-sweeping ritual, but the original mountain tomb has been replaced by a newly built hotel.
